26 March 2017, Parmeshar Dwar – Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa Dhadrianwale has released a special recording in response to the recent protest-style gathering outside Gurdwara Parmeshar Dwar Sahib on 25 March 2017, led by Amrik Singh Ajnala (Damdami Taksal).

The Sikh Parcharak is intentionally being dragged into needless controversies. Sensible people who make an effort to understand will do so without resorting to ‘Taliban-style’ functioning intended to make others believe and preach only what they believe – with a sword on the neck. Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, about whose history the recent controversy has unnecessarily been created, had given Shaheedi for freedom of speech and the rights of others to practise what they should wish. The approach by some of today’s Sikhs is in direct contradiction to what Guru Sahib Ji gave their life for.

Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa said, “I feel uncomfortable but I am forced in releasing recordings explaining the same issues again and again – they evidently do not wish to understand, but this is for the benefit of the neutral listeners and youngsters who they are attempting to brainwash.”

A group of 60-70 people gathering outside of Parmeshar Dwar, starting live broadcasts, swearing, shouting and snatching mobile phones (which they denied at first but were later proven wrong through video evidence) was not the actions that should be expected from fellow Sikh brothers. In contrast, Sikhs doing Sewa at Parmeshar Dwar had brought water and milk to them, and offered ‘Guru Ka Langar’.

Furthermore, it must be noted that the group had stormed outside the gates of Parmeshar Dwar saying they had not come to discuss, but to demand answers. Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa, who was not at Parmeshar Dwar at the time, had offered to speak to Amrik Singh Ajnala over the telephone but the offer was declined.

“I am willing to meet with this group to discuss differences in opinion, in a civilised manner, but how can I do that when we do not know who the judge will be, and what is the point in meeting when they have already declared they will not back down until their aim of obtaining a written or oral apology is achieved – they are not interested in a discussion”.

There has been circulation of online videos by one-man bands and some fringe groups. Some have gone as far as swearing at the parents of Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa and others have conducted inappropriate discussion in the public domain without having any shame of sisters and daughters listening.

In the recording, Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa said he has already answered the questions raised by this group, by Jagowale and others. “However, I am clearing each point in depth once again”, he said.

All the four questions Amrik Singh Ajnala’s group had come to demand answers for have been clarified in the recording. They had made demands and the answers to those demands have been given in front of the world wide Sikh Sangat. Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa has not once said there is no need for a Sarovar, that Harmandar Sahib is a building and there is no need for it, or that the Bhora Sahib at Baba Bakala should be knocked down.

“Why are they twisting and concocting lies, when have I ever said what they are claiming?”

Where these people have learnt the art of lying to such a huge extent is indeed a mystery. They had spread false information that a book which Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa referenced was written by an excommunicated individual, but that was a lie too. Numerous other books and literature is available which says Guru Sahib Ji did not spend 26 years sitting in an underground chamber. The SGPC website says the same too, but regardless of anything written by man, precedence should forever be given to what Guru Sahib Ji has written in Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Elements of some history can often be distorted, so its authenticity should always be tested under the light of Gurbani. Gurbani can never be tampered with. Before protesting against Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa or demanding to meet with him to obtain a so-called “apology”, both Amrik Singh Ajnala and Gurbachan Singh of Akal Takht (who wants to discuss the issue during a meeting of the Takht Jathedars on 4 April 2017) should first protest against or have meetings with the numerous writers of the history which Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa has simply spoken about. Why is it that only Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa is brought into the limelight and targeted from all angles over minute non-issues?

Shamefully, the biggest lie they are promoting is Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa used inappropriate language against Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale. Context and words are being twisted.

Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa said, “Do they think I am mad? The amount of Parchar I have done on Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa is perhaps unmatched, can anyone show how many speeches Amrik Singh Ajnala has done on the life of Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa in comparison?”

“Is this the Taksal which you are showing us, in various forms? There are many other Singhs of Taksal who speak to me regularly, they understand and agree with what I am trying to say.”

These people are just looking for trouble. In fact, they wish to provoke circumstances that would force the police to get involved and make arrests. That would then allow them to gain bogus publicity within the Sangat.

It is only worth meeting if the person on the other side has a small amount of humility and flexibility. If there is a recognised and established neutral organisation which would host and judge such a meeting, then it would be acceptable.

I have answered their four questions in this recording, but will Amrik Singh Ajnala be willing to answer just two questions I would like to ask from him – he has a white beard and is older in age, so I am asking most humbly with respect.

1) After the murderous (‘Chabeel’) attack in May 2016, instead of protesting against Harnam Singh Dhumma as they should have done, Amrik Singh Ajnala instead used inappropriate language and blatantly lied – childish nonsense that the police had to wash Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa’s clothes after the attack etc. Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa did not once react to his false statement. Can Amrik Singh Ajnala provide evidence for the claim he made and if not, then is he willing to apologise and accept he lied in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib Ji?

Amrik Singh Ajnala is continuing to promote that Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale escaped from Harmandar Sahib during the 1984 attack and did not attain Shaheedi, that Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa is still alive, in hiding and will return. Is he willing to move from this stance and accept what the majority of the Khalsa Panth believes?

If he can answer these questions and let go of stubbornness, then Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa will acknowledge that they do indeed have some flexibility and it will indeed be worth meeting with them. These people have nothing better to do and it is pointless wasting valuable time meeting with those who will always remain stubborn.

Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa said, “With folded hands I have humbly been requesting Sangat to remain calm and peaceful, when my fellow Parcharak was murdered last year I made the same requests but there is always a limit.”

If hundreds of thousands of Sikhs come to listen to Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa, it also means they have respect and love for him too. If these people think they can get away with such protest-style gatherings, then the masses of Sikh Sangat can also make it impossible for them to speak from stages also.

“You killed one of my people but I am speaking more openly about the truth than ever before, your actions will not silence me, you believe what you want and I will say what I believe.”

Live and let others live too.
