ਜੇ ਮੂਰਖੁ
ਸਮਝਾਈਐ ਸਮਝੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਛਾਵ ਨ ਧੁਪਾ।
Even if told about the shade and the sunshine, the fool does
not understand it.
ਅਖੀਂ ਪਰਖਿ ਨ
ਜਾਣਈ ਪਿਤਲ ਸੁਇਨਾ ਕੈਹਾਂ ਰੁਪਾ।
With his eyes he cannot distinguish between brass and bronze
or gold and silver.
ਸਾਉ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ
ਤੇਲ ਘਿਅ ਧਰਿਆ ਕੋਲਿ ਘੜੋਲਾ ਕੁਪਾ।
He can not know the difference of taste between the pot of
ghee and an oil vessel.
ਸੁਰਤਿ ਵਿਹੂਣਾ
ਰਾਤਿ ਦਿਹੁ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਤੁਲਿ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰਾ ਘੁਪਾ।
Day and night he is devoid of consciousness and to him light
and darkness are the same.

ਵਾਸੁ ਕਥੂਰੀ
ਥੋਮ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੁਲੀ ਅਧਉੜੀ ਤੁਪਾ।
Fragrance of musk and odour of garlic or stiching of velvet
and hide are the same for him.
ਵੈਰੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਨ
ਸਮਝਈ ਰੰਗੁ ਸੁਰੰਗ ਕੁਰੰਗੁ ਅਛੁਪਾ।
He does not identify a friend and an enemy, and remains
completely unconcerned towards the bad or good colour (of life).

ਚੰਗੇਰੀ ਚੁਪਾ ॥੨੦॥੩੨॥
Silence is the best in the company of fool. |

ਵੇਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਫਰੀਦ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਫੁਰਮਾਨ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਲੈਣ "ਫਰੀਦਾ
ਜੇ ਤੂ ਅਕਲਿ ਲਤੀਫੁ ਕਾਲੇ ਲਿਖੁ ਨ ਲੇਖ ॥ ਆਪਨੜੇ ਗਿਰੀਵਾਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਿਰੁ
ਨੀਵਾਂ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੁ ॥" ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਵਾਈ ਤਾਂ ਖਾਦੀ ਮੂੰਹ ਥਾਣੀ
ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਅਸਰ ਉਥੇ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ ਦਰਦ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਕਲੀਫ ਹੋਵੇ। ਤੇ
ਜੇ ਇਹ ਬੋਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਣਾ
ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਤੇ ਨਾ ਕਿਤੇ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਹਨ।
