Thank you all for your wonderful response to the initial app announcement of “Gurmukhi Phonics”. As promised, I wanted to provide a few more details about the app and its launch date.

What is the app about:

The Gurmukhi Phonics is intended for children 3-12 that are learning Punjabi or the Gurmukhi script. The app is designed to teach each of script letters phonetically. Children learn the sounds of the letter and not just the letter. Research shows that to teach a language in the most expedient and effective manner, children should be taught the usage of sounds and their association with letters rather than just the letters. Children retain the information longer and faster. This app is a humble attempt at that. This is a technique that we have used for both of our kids and those that we have taught for years in Punjabi schools. In fact, this is the way most kids today learn English in their schools.

The app does this by asking children to listen and repeat the sounds, and then to write the letters associated to the sounds. Finally, the app tests the children in their comprehension of the letters and the sounds.

It is a tool that we feel is very effective. We are currently piloting the app with some family and friends and will update you with their feedback next week.

“ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ ਫੋਨਿਕਸ” 3 – 12 ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਬਣਾਈ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਜਾ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ| ਇਸ ਐਪ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਵ੍ਰਾਤ੍ਮ੍ਕ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ| ਬੱਚੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਣਤਰ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿੱਖਦੇ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਵੀ ਸਿੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ| ਮਾਹਿਰਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਖੋਜ ਇਹ ਸਿੱਧ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਣਤਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਸੇਧ ਦੇਣਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਜਿਆਦਾ ਵਧੀਆ ਤੇ ਸਰਲ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਕੇਵਲ ਅੱਖਰੀ ਬਣਤਰ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੇਣ ਨਾਲੋਂ| ਬੱਚੇ ਇਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੱਕ ਇਸ ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਂਭੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ| ਇਹ ਐਪ ਇਸੇ ਸਿਧਾਂਤ ਤੇ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਜਿਹਾਂ ਯਤਨ ਹੈ| ਇਹੀ ਇਕ ਵਿਧੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਕੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸੇ ਵਿਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਿਖਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ| ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸੇ ਵਿਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਅੱਜਕਲ ਬੱਚੇ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ|
