November 11, 2012 By David
Plymouth Deputy Lord Mayor Chaz
Singh stopped people in their tracks today (Sunday November 11th 2012) at the
Remembrance Service on Plymouth Hoe.
Chaz wore a custom made turban with an array of poppies on one side which
highlighted the mainly black turban. Chaz was with his wife Sarah Kaur, Deputy
Lady Mayoress of Plymouth.
Chaz said “as a Royal British Legion member it is only befitting that I wore
this design, it’s also important to recognise the contribution made by the
Sikhs and the Commonwealth soldiers for past and present conflicts”
Son Karan – Jeet Singh spoke a few words of Remembrance to the crowds of
people estimated at 10,000 by Plymouth City Council
Karan-Jeet said “speaking today made me feel proud as a Sikh in Plymouth and a
member of 197 Squadron Air Training Corps”
Many of the dignitaries congratulated Karan-Jeet on speaking so well.
