ਵਿਸਕਾਨਸਨ ਦੇ ਓਕ ਕਰੀਕ ਸਥਿਤ ਗੁਰਦਵਾਰੇ ’ਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਮਲੇ ਵਿਚ
ਛੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਨਿਖੇਧੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਬਰਾਕ ਓਬਾਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ
ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਧਰਮ ਉਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਉਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਦਵਾਰਾ
ਗੋਲੀ ਕਾਂਡ ਦੀ ਨਿਖੇਧੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਕਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ
ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਵਾੲ੍ਹੀਟ ਹਾਊਸ ਵਿਚ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਇਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
ਓਬਾਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਪਣੇ ਧਾਰਮਕ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਨੂੰ ਡਰਨ
ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਹਰ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਅਪਣੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ
ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਹੈ। ਓਬਾਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਨੀਚ ਘਟਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਪਰਾਧੀਆਂ ਵਲ ਇਸ਼ਾਰਾ
ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਦਇਆ, ਚੰਗਿਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਇਕਜੁਟ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਦੀ
ਤਾਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਇਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਮੌਕੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਓਬਾਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ,
"ਅੱਜ ਦੀ ਰਾਤ, ਖ਼ਾਸ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ, ਸਾਡੇ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਮਰੀਕੀਆਂ
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਦੁਆਵਾਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਲਈ ਹਨ। ਧਾਰਮਕ ਅਸਥਾਨ ’ਤੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ
ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਅਸੀ ਅਪਣੀ ਹਮਦਰਦੀ ਜ਼ਾਹਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।"

times, we have to admit that this spirit is threatened. We’ve seen instances
of mosques and synagogues, churches and temples being targeted. Tonight, our
prayers, in particular, are with our friends and fellow Americans in the Sikh
community. We mourn those who were senselessly murdered and injured in their
place of worship. And while we may never fully understand what motivates such
hatred, such violence, the perpetrators of such despicable acts must know that
your twisted thinking is no match for the compassion and the goodness and the
strength of our united American family.
So tonight, we declare with one voice that such violence has no place in the
United States of America. The attack on Americans of any faith is an attack on
the freedom of all Americans. (Applause.) No American should ever have to fear
for their safety in their place of worship. And every American has the right
to practice their faith both openly and freely, and as they choose.
That is not just an American right; it is a universal human right. And we will
defend the freedom of religion, here at home and around the world. And as we
do, we’ll draw on the strength and example of our interfaith community,
including the leaders who are here tonight.

ਅਫ਼ਗ਼ਾਨਿਸਤਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਬੰਗਲਾਦੇਸ਼ ਸਣੇ ਕਈ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਫ਼ੀਰ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ ਜਦਕਿ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਿਚ ਭਾਰਤੀ
ਸਫ਼ੀਰ ਨਿਰੂਪਮਾ ਰਾਵ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਸਫ਼ੀਰ ਮੀਰਾ ਸ਼ੰਕਰ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਅਟਾਰਨੀ
ਜਨਰਲ ਐਰਿਕ ਹੋਲਡਰ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਦਵਾਰਾ ਗੋਲੀ ਕਾਂਡ ਦੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ’ਚ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ
ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਗੁਰਦਵਾਰਾ ਗੋਲੀ ਕਾਂਡ ਨੂੰ ਨਿੰਦਣਯੋਗ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਦਸਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ,
"ਹਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ-ਰੂਪ
ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।"
ਹੋਲਡਰ ਨੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਦਲਾਅ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇਕ ਕੌਮੀ
