Satwant
Singh Kaleka, the president of Gurdwara of Wisconsin in Oak Creek, who was
killed in Sunday morning shoot-out in the Gurdwara was the brother-in-law of
Punjab Cabinet Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra.
Even as the identities of those
killed is yet to be official declared by the US government or the police,
the shocking fact has been confirmed by the family.
Satwant Singh Kaleka hailed from
village Kaleka situated near Patran in the district of Patiala. Rakhras and
especially Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, a brother of Rakhra, had played a great
role in establishment of the Gurdwara, it has been learnt.
The family has suffered a blow
even as it was preparing for a grand-ceremony in connection with the
marriage of the niece of the minister.
It may be recalled that Rakhra’s
niece, a daughter of his brother Darshan Singh Dhaliwal is getting married
in the 2nd week of August.
The wedding was planned so
lavishly that Rakhra had specially invited around 100 people from Punjab.
Those invited included Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy Chief
Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and a number of Rakhra’s cabinet colleagues,
fellow MLAs and MPs.
