ਮੇਰੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਵੈ-ਜੀਵਨੀ 'ਬਿਉਂਡ ਦਾ ਲਾਈਨਜ਼' ਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ 'ਤੇ
ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸਿੱਖ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਇਤਰਾਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਪੰਥ
ਦੇ ਹੱਕਾਂ-ਹਿੱਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਉਠਾਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਅਤ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਦਈ ਰਿਹਾ
ਹਾਂ।
ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਰਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਲਿਖਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਲੰਮਾ
ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਹੈ। ਸਾਕਾ ਨੀਲਾ ਤਾਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੰਬਰ 1984 ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖਦਾਈ ਘਟਨਾਕ੍ਰਮ ਸਮੇਂ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ

ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਬੁਲੰਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੇਸ
ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਇਰਾਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਵੈ-ਜੀਵਨੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉਹ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ
'ਤੇ ਇਤਰਾਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਤਾਬ ਦੇ
ਅਗਲੇ ਐਡੀਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਵੇਰਵੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਜੇਕਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀਆਂ
ਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੇਸ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੁਆਫ਼ੀ ਮੰਗਦਾ
ਹਾਂ।
Kuldip Nayar apologises to Sikhs

Veteran journalist Kuldip Nayar today apologised to the Sikhs if any portion
of his autobiography "Beyond the Lines", released recently, had hurt the
community’s sentiments.
"I have
always raised my voice in favour of the Sikh Panth and have been a votary of
Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiat. I have no intention of hurting anybody’s
sentiments.
“As such, I
have decided to delete portions of my autobiography on which objections have
been raised. These parts shall not be there in the next edition of the
book," Nayar said. The columnist said he had raised his voice against the
excesses committed on the Sikhs during Operation Bluestar and the November
1984 riots.
The veteran
journalist had invited the ire of Sikh radicals, claiming in his book that
Bhindranwale and the Dal Khalsa had the “blessings” of the Congress.
The book
also claimed that the Sikh Student's Federation chief, Bhai Amrik Singh, who
died during Operation Bluestar, was an "IB agent".
