ਲੋਹੜੀ
ਸਿੱਖ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ
 ਅਜ ਬਹੁਤੇ
ਸਿੱਖ ਇਸ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਰੀਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਉੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ
ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਇਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਕਾਕੇ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਲੋਹੜੀ ਹੈ। ਏਹ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਸਿਰਫ
ਲੜਕੇ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਤੇ ਹੀ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਲੜਕੀ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ। ਗੁਰਮਤਿ
ਇਸ ਗਲ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ, ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮੁੰਡੇ, ਕੁੜੀ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ
ਫਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਆਸਾ ਦੀ ਵਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖਦੇ ਹਨ “ਸੋ
ਕਿਉ ਮੰਦਾ ਆਖਿਐ ਜਿਤੁ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਰਾਜਾਨ॥” (ਪੰਨਾ 473)
ਸਿੱਖੀ ਵਿਚ ਮੁੰਡੇ, ਕੁੜੀ 'ਚ ਕੋਈ ਫਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਸੋ
ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਏਹ ਲੋਹੜੀ ਦਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਨਾਉਣ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ।
ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਵਾਰਾ, ਜਿਥੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ
ਸਿੱਖਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਸੋ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਏਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਨਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ।
ਲੋਹੜੀ ਦਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਮੂਲ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਯੱਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਰੰਭ ਦਾ ਸੂਚਕ ਮੰਨਿਆ
ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਗਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵੀ-ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਗਿਆ
ਹੈ। ਹਰੇਕ ਯੱਗ ਅਗਨੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਅਰੰਭ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਥੇ ਅੱਗ ਬਾਲ ਕੇ ਉਸ
ਵਿਚ ਰਿਉੜੀਆਂ, ਚਿੜਵੜੇ, ਮੂੰਗਫਲੀ ਆਦਿ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ ਦੀ ਆਹੂਤੀ
ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਦਿ ਵੰਡਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ
ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਹੈ। ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ
ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਧਰਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।
Lohri is not a Sikh festival
It is an Indian festival of fire in which
fire is worshipped. It is usually celebrated to
commemorate the birth of a male child alone. It is
not celebrated on the birth of a girl
as she is not considered important. Thus, it cannot
be a Sikh festival as it discriminates.
Also, Sikhs do not worship fire.
Unfortunately, many misguided people do worship fire
or Lohri because of its strong links to Punjabi
culture. The birth of a daughter or son is equally
joyous for Sikhs. The practise of giving sweets and
celebrating Lohri only on the birth of a boy alone
is a taboo for Sikhs and is entirely contrary to the
Sikh way of life.
Lohri favours the male off spring and clearly
discriminates against females. On the other
hand, unhealthy traditions and rituals such as
Rakhee, Lohri, Kurva Chauth, they are not in concern
with the Sikh way of life.
