shot dead by robbers in Las Vegas, USA

Sikh youth Amanpreet Singh Mander alias Rinku, 34, hailing from Punjab in
India and an owner of a store, was shot dead on Wednesday after a robbery
attempt and shooting incident outside a bank in Las Vegas (US).
The family of Amanpreet has their roots at village Chakk Ramu near Behram in the
District of Nawanshahr.
His father, Balbir Singh a retired principal and an NRI who also lives in Las
Vegas and is on a visit to India from last about two months, told that his son
had gone to deposit the sale proceeds of the store to a nearby bank when some
black youth waylaid him almost outside the bank.
As he resisted the move of the robbers they fired at him and fled with the bag
containing the money.
Amanpreet received two bullets in his chest and he succumbed to his gunshot
injuries in the hospital where he was taken for treatment. He is survived by his
wife and two sons.
As Metro Police reached Wells Fargo Bank, near Sunset Road and Eastern Avenue
about 4.30 pm on Wednesday to investigate a reported shooting, officers found
Amanpreet lying with multiple gunshot wounds near the front doors of the bank.
He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Centre in critical condition, but
died later that evening, police informed on Friday.
Investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying two men in connection
with the shooting, but authorities didn’t have descriptions of the men till
Friday.
Police said they fled in a silver, possibly four-door, Ford F-150 pickup truck
with no bedcover or camper shell. |
